How to Preserve Your Locs/Retwist While Working Out

For those of us with an active lifestyle, particularly in fitness and sports, we hate to think that our fresh retwists cannot look so fresh after an intense workout or a game. The good thing is we can exercise, run, jump, catch that ball and afterward, will still look like we’ve just had loc maintenance.

Use a scarf– Using a satin scarf or du-rag and tie them around your edges. The scarf soaks up any amount of excess sweat during your workout or sport session.

Hairnet– If your locs are curled, put your locs in a ponytail and tuck the ponytail portion of your locs inside the hairnet. While working out, the moisture tends to loosen the curls. Using a hairnet will keep your curls fresh. if your locs are long, you may have too much hair for a hairnet. In this case, a simple messy bun will suffice.

Oil Hair Cleanse: jojoba oil + peppermint oil
Peppermint is a natural antiseptic so it helps break down the salt and sweat that’s left on your scalp. combine the oils in your hand or in a bottle and massage into your scalp. For those who suffer from extreme sweating after working out or playing a sport, use a blow dryer after you massage the oils in with the cool temperature until your hair feels dry.
